Because they wasted time haggling over his player, Arsenal is likely to fall short in their attempt to acquire Raphinha from Leeds United.
Melissa Reddy from Sky Sports states this.
Reddy tweeted:
“Leeds were confident of getting their valuation of £55m+ for Raphinha given the interest in him. Arsenal had a head start, but Chelsea have worked themselves into pole position by agreeing a fee rather than haggling.”
Raphinha, 25, is now one of Europe's most wanted forwards.
Arsenal, Tottenham, and Chelsea were also interested in the Brazilian, along with longtime admirers Barcelona.
Leeds was rumored to be asking for a sum well in excess of £50 million.
The first English club to test the waters was Arsenal, who submitted a bid that was less than £40 million.
Tuesday, Chelsea intervened to crush the deal with a bid for an initial £60 million, with the ability for add-ons to raise the price to £65 million. The majority of the transfer money is expected to be paid upfront and right away.
